3 of the Best Christian Movies

Movies are an ideal activity for a quiet night indoors. There’s nothing cozier than being bundled up in a blanket with your favorite snack at hand, captivated by a riveting storyline playing out on screen. If you’ve run out of movies on your “Watch Later” list, it could be a great time to try out a Christian movie. Here is a brief rundown of three of the best Christian movies available today.

1. Facing the Giants (2006)

The struggle of facing a bigger, stronger, and more well-known opponent is one that any athlete can relate to. In Facing the Giants, Christian high school football coach, Grant Taylor, wrestles with fear and anxiety over his team’s six-year losing streak. He finds inspiration in God and puts his all into believing in His guidance, encouraging his team to put faith over fear as they get ready to face their hardest season yet. It’s an incredibly heartfelt film that highlights the importance of trusting in God’s plan.

2. Courageous (2011)

From the same director as Facing the Giants, Courageous is a story about four police officers. The thread that connects them is their struggle in their role as fathers, husbands, and sons. After an unexpected tragedy occurs, the four men agree to a resolution to honor God in every aspect of the family. For anyone that has ever struggled with their familial relationships, Courageous offers a path to reconciliation and a call to do better through God’s teachings. 

3. Passion of the Christ (2004)

The Passion of the Christ is the quintessential Christian movie. It follows Jesus Christ on his arduous journey from the garden of Gethsemane to his sacrifice on the cross, all the way to his joyous resurrection. The film doesn’t shy away from violence and cruelty, offering an incredibly visceral retelling of Christ’s suffering. It’s a powerful reminder to every Christian that He died on the cross for our sins. He paid the debt we owed, so that we can experience forgiveness and have eternal life.
