Boss Who Loves to Use Sarcasm: Stoicess’ Poem.

It’s your first rodeo working for a boss like this,
she’s not a hothead, a yeller when something goes amiss.

Instead, there’s something different in this one’s dealings,
she turns gnarly in an instant when expressing her feelings.

In fact, sarcasm appears to be her tool of choice,
when someone invades her mental space they’ll hear a change in her voice.

Her voice remains calm while sizing up her victim as the game begins,
what first seemed funny now puts her victim on needles and pins.

And of late, as you and your boss become more relaxed in your relationship,
you notice this tactic of hers – she can quickly unzip.

An example is when seeing a previous employee of the month award on your desk,
she calmly states, “It just goes to show you, they never give these awards to the best”.

The book of Proverbs tells us there are people who “speaketh rashly like the piercings of a sword”,
so, is this a boss you want to work for who when perturbed doesn’t act aboveboard?

It’s bad enough to have worked for a yeller, someone who face-to-face tries to make you break,
but an underhanded comment followed by “I was only kidding. You’re such a bozo” is so demeaning – it’s more than you will take.

In the end, you decide to let this submariner go,
you’ll start a new job with a boss who makes you feel aglow – one who doesn’t treat you like you’re such a bozo.

I’m Lori Stith, The Stoicess
AND I believe in YOU.
