A friend posted on social media a personal conversation,
their act of sharing such thoughts with the world was below their station.
I did not know why they wanted to make me feel so blued,
considering all those years of trust in them, in a mere instance, became unglued.
I said to myself, “I know so many secrets about them as well”,
but I acted as the better person, and on such, I will not dwell nor tell.
Where does our friendship go from here?
I think to myself, it will likely never again be so dear.
However, King Solomon’s words I have followed of longstanding,
“Get wisdom. And with all your acquiring, get understanding”.
So, as I sought wisdom, I found Apostle Paul’s words to us all,
“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, as God forgives” when we fall.
And as I searched to gain understanding of how to proceed,
Marcus Aurelius’ words appeared to meet my need.
Marcus’ words gave insight and added clarity to my mind,
“To forgive a man who has wronged one, to remain a friend to one who has transgressed friendship, to continue faithful to one who has broken faith” is what it truly means for one to be kind.
So, I returned to my friend with open arms,
and gave forgiveness and forgot the harm.
For we now train our minds together much harder and will do so evermore,
for we promised each other never, never ever, to hurt one another as before.
