How to Ask Someone on a Date

It’s the age-old question: how do you ask someone on a date? The answer used to be simple — you asked them directly. However, in today’s world of dating apps and ambiguous text messages, it can be a little trickier to know how to ask someone out without getting rejected.

Fear not! We’re here to help. Read on for our tips on how to ask someone out — no matter what method you choose.

1. Figure Out If They Are Open to Dating You

Before you make your move on how to ask someone out, they must actually be open to dating you. This means that they have no significant other and aren’t seeing anyone else.

2. Build Up to It

Start by building up to asking them on a date. You want to build that tension and anticipation, so when you do ask them out, it is an awesome moment for both of you.

3. Do Not Ask Them Out to a Place That Is Too Serious

Let’s say you ask them on a date, and they decide to go out with you. Then, when it comes time to go on the date, you take them to an overly-romantic restaurant — and it gives them total panic. Try to find something a bit lighter and less serious when you’re just getting to know each other.

4. Find the Right Moment/Place to Ask Them Out

Asking someone out when they are in the middle of something can be very rude because it makes it seem like your question is more important than what they are doing. You could also come off as if you don’t care about how they feel at all.

5. Be Yourself

This step has nothing to do with asking someone on a date, which is why I saved this one for last. Just remember when asking someone on a date, your own personality makes all the difference in how they respond.

Conclusion

By following these steps on how to ask someone on a date, you will find yourself becoming more comfortable and ready to ask someone out. Take your time and enjoy this moment because asking someone on a date sets the tone for your relationship together.
