The Importance of Close Friends

The saying “no man is an island” means that everyone needs help now and then. The wisdom of friends can provide us with counsel when it comes to making big decisions. As such, we need to be surrounded by family, friends, and the church in times of happiness and sadness. 

Why Family is Important

Having a connected family means that you will have a strong support system when it comes to making important decisions. Being able to have people you trust around you will provide you with a place to fall back on in times of difficulty. Moreover, they will know you better than anyone and will provide you with the advice and encouragement you need when things don’t go according to plan. 

Why Friends are Important 

It’s not enough to only have family in your support network — having friends around you will allow you to develop a strong relationship with someone outside of your family. Different people can also provide you with a different perspective which can be helpful when making huge decisions. Because of this, hearing opinions from various people will help you see the situation in a different light. 

Why the Church is Important 

Apart from friends and family, the church can also help you when it comes to making important decisions. The Bible repeats an important proverb that will help you remember the wisdom that a church community can provide: 

• Proverbs 11:14 – Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.
• Proverbs 15:22 – Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers, they succeed.
• Proverbs 24:6 – For by wise guidance you can wage your war, and in an abundance of counselors there is victory.

God made us social beings, so we can always find wisdom in our church. As such, we can expect that we’ll find help from our pastors and other church members when it comes to making major decisions in life. Moreover, by getting counsel from people who love us, they may be able to shed light on things that we may have overlooked.
