The reality of life after death is a fact that all of us should view with an inward scrutiny. There are plenty of passages in the Bible that mention two separate paths after death, one involving an eternity with God or one involving an eternity without Him. The Bible makes it clear that we have a date with destiny on the other side of this life.
Living a “good life” well-pleasing to God is one of the most important concepts all of us should embrace. For those that know God, the Bible speaks of rewards handed out for acts of kindness and love. It also indicates that our lives will be reviewed for what they were, how they impacted others, and that we will be rewarded according to our work.
However, stress may interfere with living a good life.
Stress impacts more than 40 million people in the United States every year. It can dominate how you think and behave and become a driving factor in the decisions you make on a daily basis. Have you experienced any of these issues?
These things can cause you to lose your joy in living a life well-pleasing to God. The impact can be devastating. You can quickly morph from living a vibrant life to a shell of your former self. Even worse, if you’re stuck in this mode for too long, you’ll begin to believe this is how things will always be.
Stoic Matchmaker is an online community which helps people live their lives to the fullest. To overcome anxiety, you have to control your thinking and that’s where Stoic Matchmaker truly shines. While practicing our weekly mental exercises and interacting with others in our online community, you’ll change how you think about your life in the following areas:
There are several ways Stoic Matchmaker helps you accomplish the goal of developing the meditation discipline in your life. As you grow in these areas, you’ll find that all of the below items work together to improve your relationships, how you view yourself, and help shape you into the person God has called you to be.
Christian meditation is a process where you deliberately focus on specific thoughts or Bible passages and reflect on their meaning in the context of God’s love. This practice heightens Christian communion for a deeper walk and personal relationship with God.
Stoic Matchmaker will help you learn this meditative practice to apply the Bible to your life. With a deeper understanding of the Scripture, you’ll better understand how to apply its principles to your life.
Biblical spirituality means to be born of God, be changed by the grace of Jesus Christ, surrendered to the Spirit, living by the Spirit, and empowered by the Spirit to draw others to life in the Spirit.
Stoicism (a philosophy) and Christianity (a religion) have a lot in common. They both highly value virtue and ethical living. Using these ideas together, you can transform your mind into a strong fortress where deceptive ideas can’t penetrate.
In practice, Stoic Matchmaker will help you fill your mind with Scripture. Through stoic philosophy, you’ll be moved to implementing what the Bible says, just like the Apostle Paul did with an audience of stoics in the Book of Acts.
Ultimately, the Bible isn’t only to be pondered. It is the guide for how to live. Stoic Matchmaker will help you become a person of biblical action.
These practices of thoughtful reading and meditating on the Bible and God Himself mingled with prayer work together through the power of the Spirit to move us into deeper communion with God.
Both Christianity and Stoicism recognize that suffering is inherent in this life. Stoicism can help you deal with the realities of life and Christianity offers one thing stoicism can not: the hope of eternal life.
While your meditation and time with God is a very personal experience, Stoic Matchmaker has a dedicated online community to help you grow in your new discipline. You can chat with other members about the various exercises each week and discuss teachings and concepts that you experience everyday, but don’t find help with in your everyday life. Our community also encourages one another in their walk with God and the Stoicess will challenge you to grow and become the person God wants you to be.
Each week, the Stoicess will present a quote for the community to ponder during their meditations. Don’t worry, you’ll learn the ropes quickly. You’ll be given a picture with the quote and asked to ponder and write about how it applies to you. We encourage all of our members to take part in writing their thoughts down and sharing them with others in the community through our platform. You may find that others have a different perspective in their pondering than your own, but one thing you’ll definitely come away with is the perspectives that the situations presented to you each week are highly relevant. You may experience them in your everyday life or have experienced them in the past. The next time you face them, you’ll already have an informed perspective through the Biblical lens of wisdom.
