God tells us in the Bible that renewing our minds is important, specifically in Romans 12:2: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
It’s one of the most important things Christians do to faithfully grow in Christ. Here are some ways we can renew our minds.
Picking a specific verse and thinking of it several times a day (by meditation) is one excellent way to help you renew your mind. As you think the verse over in your mind, you’ll train your mind to remember, reflect, and Meditate on that verse throughout your daily life.
Reciting the verse at certain points in time will give you clarity and help bring your focus back to what matters most. For example, every time you’re going through troubling times, you can recite Psalm 91:1-2. This will renew your mind to focus on God’s protection in the situation more than the stress of the problem itself.
Using flashcards is a great way for you to reinforce your knowledge of the Bible. For instance, you can write a passage on one side and a reference on the other. Then when you look at the reference (e.g., Mark 8:34) you can try to recite the verse and see if you got it right.
Studying a particular topic from the Bible can deepen your knowledge and understanding of it, which will, in turn, deepen your understanding of God’s character and will for your life.
We hope that through this article, you’ll find a way to renew your mind and instill Godly mental habits in your life.
