It’s essential that the people of a nation pray for the nation as a whole. If you’re a Christian and are looking for a way to contribute to the good of the nation you live in, then there is no better or more powerful way than to pray on behalf of the leaders and government over the nation. The Bible shows dramatic results from a praying people. Below are prayers for the nation to consider.
Lord, we come before you today and ask that you would grant us the ability to repent. Your Word says that you grant us repentance and today, we are asking for that special gift not only for ourselves but also for our nation. We pray that you would bring repentance for our sins as a nation and how we have gone astray from your Word. We ask that you would bring leaders into our government who love you and seek to do good for the people of this nation. There are many things that we have done wrong. Bring those things to the minds of our leaders and also the people of this nation, and help us return to You with our whole hearts. We can do nothing without Your help Lord and we ask for a repentance not to be repented of. We ask that the repentance that you grant us would be truly a work done by You, one that would last and change us from the inside out. A repentance that would start in our heart and cause us to act differently, to live differently, to live a life of righteousness and a life that would be well-pleasing to You. Help all of our leaders, whether they be at the city, county, state or federal level, to all repent of all the evil we have done. We cry out to You for help, in Jesus name. Amen.
Lord, we know that your counsel stands above everything else. We live in a nation that is known for division and turmoil, and we ask that you would cause those divisions to be mended. That the things that divide our nation would be considered by those that hold grudges or hate in their heart. We ask that you would help those leaders to repent and that the aim of their remaining years in office would be toward working together and reconciling with those they have been hurt by. Our nation needs unity Lord, and we pray for your peace that surpasses all understanding to grip the hearts of the leaders in office. We ask for your blessing on our nation. Amen.
