Stoicess’ Poem: Nickle and Dime Your Partner.

We tied the knot some years ago,
signed that contract each thinking we were in the know.

However, over the years his enthusiasm began to wane,
the duties he once gladly performed, now have become his bane.

So, you’ve found yourself doing more of the chores that were once evenly assigned,
bitterness begins to overcome you as you see the terms of the contract becoming misaligned.

But playing a game of tit for tat – a type of retaliation in kind,
by tallying every chore he’s done compared to you, can easily weigh heavily on one’s mind.

And merely striving for that 50-50 relationship is not ever enough,
the fact is both of you should give 150% for things to work out correctly even though there are times when that can be quite tough.

On the flip side, you don’t want your partner to think you’re someone who nickels and dimes at every corner and never willing to bend,
particularly when your partner is giving more time to the job as he focuses on that corporate ladder while he tries to ascend.

For the Bible tells us we should be patient, bearing with one another in love,
so you’ll maintain a long-term view, and are willing to let things slide as you take off that proverbial boxing glove.

Because sometimes a relationship gains more in the long term from those single interactions of giving a free pass,
particularly when your beloved is trying desperately to place the family in a higher social class.

And whether success is achieved by your beloved’s untested actions,
at least you both know you are working as a team for a common goal while avoiding such menial distractions.
