What To Include on Your Prayer and Meditation Lists

Your prayer life and meditation life is between you and God. But sometimes, it helps to have a little bit of guidance on what to pray for and meditate on. If you find yourself rambling or losing track of what you’re addressing, then a prayer list and meditation list may come in handy. It is simply a list of people or things that you want to regularly remember to pray about and meditate on.

Yourself

One of the first things you should include on your prayer list is your personal prayer life. This can help to keep you accountable and grow in your faith. Additionally, it can be a reminder to pray for specific areas of your life that you want to improve.

Your Family

Your family is the closest group of people to you in the world, so it only makes sense that they would be close to the top of your prayer list. Pray for their safety, health, and overall well-being. If they are struggling with anything in particular, pray for those as well.

Your Church

Your church is where you get spiritual nourishment. Including your church on your prayer list is a powerful way to stay involved and realistic about your church leadership. After all, they are only humans too. Pray for your church’s leaders, that they may have wisdom and guidance from the Lord. Pray for the members of your congregation, that they may be open to the Holy Spirit’s leading in their lives.

Your Workplace

If you’re like most people, your job is a big part of your life — and often a source of stress or frustration. Praying for your boss, co-workers, and job situation is a good way to keep your focus on what is important and allow God to work in your heart to give up resentment or anger toward certain people in your workplace.

Your Area of Influence

The world is a big place, and there are a lot of people in it. It can be easy to forget about all of the people who are struggling in the world when you’re focusing on your own life. However, you can have an impact in your circle of influence. How about praying for the bank teller you always see or the cashier at the grocery store? Keeping the people you see every once in a while on your prayer list could lead to their salvation, a new friendship, or more.

Takeaway

Prayer and meditation are powerfuls tool that can help you in all areas of your life. When you take the time to pray for specific needs and meditate on God’s Word, it can help you focus on what’s most important and see God work in amazing ways.
