The promise I made to God.

Embarking on a personal journey of faith can be a transformative experience. In this post, I will share the promise I made to God and the profound impact it has had on my life. Join me as I reflect on the challenges, triumphs, and valuable lessons learned along the way.

The Beginning of My Journey: My Promise to Him

My journey of faith began during a time of deep introspection and soul-searching. I was searching for meaning and purpose in my life, and it was during this search that I found God. I made a promise to Him, a promise to dedicate my life to following His teachings and living a life of love, compassion, and service. This promise marked the beginning of a profound transformation in my life, as I embarked on a journey of self-discovery and spiritual growth. I immediately realized that accomplishments in my life were no longer my doing – I would no longer accept credit for good works performed. Instead, all glory for goodness on my part would now be given to God when speaking to others.

Making a Promise to God: A Life-Changing Decision

Making a promise to God is a deeply personal and life-changing decision. It requires a deep commitment and a willingness to surrender oneself to a higher power. For me, making this promise was a turning point in my life. It gave me a sense of purpose and direction, and it allowed me to tap into a source of strength and guidance that I had never experienced before. This promise has shaped every aspect of my life, from my relationships to my career choices. It has taught me the importance of faith, trust, and perseverance, and it has brought me closer to God in ways I never thought possible. Join me on this journey of faith as I share the challenges, triumphs, and lessons learned along the way.

Overcoming Challenges: The Tests of Faith & Giving God The Glory

Throughout my journey of faith, I have faced numerous challenges that have tested my commitment to the promise I made to God. These challenges have come in various forms, from personal struggles and doubts to external obstacles and opposition. However, each challenge has served as an opportunity for growth and deepening my faith. I have learned that overcoming challenges requires unwavering trust in God’s plan, perseverance in the face of adversity, and a willingness to surrender control. Through these tests of faith, I have discovered the strength and resilience that lies within me, and I have witnessed firsthand the power of God’s guidance and grace.

One of the greatest challenges I had to overcome was wanting to take credit for things I did on God’s  behalf, instead of giving God all the glory so others could see His majestic power. For example, someone says to me, “Oh, I’m sure you’re getting credit for doing this work on behalf of God”. However, because we are saved by sanctification, our believing in Christ’s death and resurrection, there are no personal credits for what we do here on earth— NO credits to get us to heaven. In fact, by trying to get personal credits for myself instead of letting God’s glory show, my mental state would be upsetting to God.

My reasoning is based on a story of Moses. In Numbers 20, the Bible gives us a story of Moses providing water to the Israelites. The Israelites were blaming Moses for bringing them out in the wilderness to die of dehydration because water was scarce. Moses prayed to God for help and God responded saying, “Take the staff, and assemble the congregation, you and Aaron your brother, and tell the rock before their eyes to yield its water.” Moses assembled the people and said, ” “Hear now, you rebels: shall we bring water for you out of this rock?” Moses then hit the rock with the staff and water came forth.

However, note that Moses (and Aaron) took personal credit for the work of God. Subsequently, God said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not believe in me, to uphold me as holy in the eyes of the people of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land that I have given them.”  In the end,  Moses and Aaron lives were ended by God before the Israelites entered the land.

Celebrating Triumphs: The Rewards of Staying True

Staying true to the promise I made to God has not always been easy, but the rewards have been immeasurable. Each triumph along the way has been a testament to the power of faith and the fulfillment that comes from living in alignment with God’s will. Whether it’s overcoming a personal struggle, achieving a long-awaited goal, or experiencing a profound spiritual breakthrough, these triumphs have brought immense joy and a deep sense of purpose. They have reminded me that God’s promises are always worth pursuing, even in the face of adversity. Join me as I celebrate these triumphs and reflect on the incredible rewards that come from staying true to my faith.

Lessons Learned: Reflections on My Journey with God

Throughout my journey with God, I have learned many valuable lessons that have shaped my faith and transformed my life. One of the most important lessons I have learned is the power of surrender. When I made the promise to God, I had to let go of my own plans and desires and trust in His divine guidance. This was not always easy, as I often found myself wanting to take control and make things happen on my own. But as I surrendered to God’s will, I discovered a peace and fulfillment that I had never experienced before.

Another lesson I have learned is the importance of perseverance. There were times when I faced challenges and obstacles that seemed insurmountable. But through it all, I held onto my faith and continued to trust in God’s plan. I learned that even in the darkest moments, God is always there, guiding and supporting me. And when I persevered through those difficult times, I emerged stronger and more resilient.

One of the most profound lessons I have learned on my journey with God is the power of gratitude. As I reflect on the triumphs and blessings in my life, I am filled with a deep sense of gratitude for God’s faithfulness. I have learned to appreciate the small miracles and everyday blessings that often go unnoticed. Gratitude has transformed my perspective and allowed me to see God’s hand at work in every aspect of my life.

Overall, my journey with God has been a transformative and life-changing experience. It has taught me the importance of surrender, perseverance, and gratitude. I now give all glory to God and no personal credit for myself.

I am grateful for the lessons I have learned and the incredible rewards that come from staying true to my faith. I invite you to join me on this journey and discover the power of living in alignment with God’s Will.
