Stoicess’ Poem: Winning Your Partner’s Trust.

I’ve had a few dates with this awesome guy,
his caring, his kindness quickly caught my eye.

I hadn’t heard from him and told a friend I missed him greatly,
she said she heard he had been injured and was keeping to himself lately.

So, I gained my courage and carried him dinner so I could check on my date,
he smiled and asked me in as we set in silence while we ate.

He then mentioned he needed some assistance,
managing his money by someone who was concerned for his mere existence.

For in his rainy day fund, he had “a plenty”,
but those offering to help seemed to want every penny.

I remained quiet while taking all this in,
I knew I could help because our minds were akin.

But I remained quiet knowing this was his decision to reach,
for the trust our relationship was developing, I did not want to breach.

He then shocked me when he said, “I know you will do right by me,
will you take over, help me, until I get through this miserable spree?”

“Of course, I will, but why choose me?”
Because you are supportive, wise, a leader to all – these are traits that are most important on which you and I totally agree.

Whenever you needed my help, you asked without hesitation,
the trust you have in me is far beyond simple dedication.

And everyone else wants their hands in my cookie jar,
taking a large share for themselves – it’s just how they are.

You trust me, so how could I not trust you,
there’s no one like you my dear friend, no one, no one, I ever knew.

Here’s my check book with your name added,
I’ve been waiting for your arrival, I knew you’d come, because you are the only one who’d care about my survival.

Tears flowed down my face as I nestled him in my arms,
“where have you been” I commented, someone with so many charms.

So, I led him, took care of him, and we became ONE,
I now say to myself, “God has a unique way of doing things, but in the end, it’s always His Will … that will be done.”
